On the twelfth day of blogmas, I am sharing a 12-step guide to have a perfect mental health reboot day. This is something which works for me, you don’t have to follow all the steps. Feel free to skip a few, change some or add new steps, as it is your day and the guide should be fit to cater to you. By the time you figure out your perfect guide, follow this method.
Open the curtains the moment you wake up, don’t leave it for later because you will forget it. Also, sunlight wakes up your body clock faster than anything. You might not even need caffeine to feel awake.
Say affirmations to your mirror, however, don’t just say them. Believe in what you are saying, force your brain to agree to the affirmations. There are a lot of affirmations on the internet, I wrote a post about affirmations for good mental health, you can read about it here.
Cardio and breathing exercises are really good for kickstarting a day. It is very important to get that heartbeat up and supply more oxygen to the brain. You can read more about its importance, here.
Clean your space. Your space reflects your mental space and if it’s getting messy, it is an indication of how things are happening inside your brain. So clean up your space, you don’t have to go on an all house cleaning mission, choose an area and organise it.
Call your friends or family, don’t neglect them. We need people around us to function properly, that’s how we are programmed. Even if it’s for a few minutes, just talk to them, you will feel better.
Manage your inbox, they get scary! Also, unmanaged inboxes can be very overwhelming.
Unfollow people you don’t like. Social media is a part of our life but it can be harmful. Unfollow people you don’t like, people you were friends with and people you knew at some point. You are not obligated to follow everyone, just think if their content makes you happy or not and you will know what to do.
Go for an evening walk. Evening walks are fun, everyone is in a relaxed state and sunsets set the scene perfectly.
Go on a dinner date with someone or yourself. It is important to treat yourself if you are confused about the concept of taking yourself on a date, you can read this post. It will help you with all the doubts you have.
Watch a movie, take a break from reality, you need it!
Journal entry. I think no matter what I say about journal writing, it will never be enough. Journaling should be a part of your routine, period! If you are still not convinced, read this post.
Sleep earlier than usual, we underestimate the power of adequate sleep. Sleep deprivation also adds up to the stress of life. And when you are well rested, you look good along with feeling good.
